Mr. Rochester’s Wife
A wretched being I knew years ago had an unfortunate habit of blabbing the ends of books. Not only was she the one who told me that Gandalf wasn’t dead but she also gave away practically the entire plot of Jane Eyre. One bit I remember in particular was her telling me that Mr. Rochester had locked his wife in the attic and that she was mad. I said that I could certainly understand her being mad, what with being locked-up and all. I didn’t find-out until later that the unfortunate Mrs. Rochester was insane and not just pissed-off. Or was she?
