Synopsis: The Doctor and Mel arrive on the Hyperion III in 2986 just in time to attempt to figure out the cause of the murders that seem to be plaguing the cruise ship. The Doctor is using this adventure as evidence of his virtuosity while he is on trial on Gallifrey for interference.
Production Context: The show itself was on trial at this time, and was going through quite a lot of hassle to keep itself running, with Colin Baker himself taking a lot of the blame for the series' failure to perform. The response was the season long story arc of the Trial of a Time Lord (which was half as long as previous seasons), which came after the show was put on an 18-month hiatus after Colin Baker's first season.
