Bear had Thurs and Fri night off and had to go back to work tonight. *pouts* His schedule for "next week" has him working Sun, off Mon-Wed, then working Thur-Sat. On one hand it sucks that he'll be working the weekends, but on the other, at least we won't have to do the hi-bye thing too much. They cut back his hours post holiday but maybe he'll pick up some more with Xmas approaching. My one annoyance about this new job is that they gave him a shirt that is a size too small - and only ONE! I keep having to estimate if there are enough clothes for him to do the laundry during the day so he can wash that stupid shirt. I'll be glad when they get the new uniforms in so maybe he can get the right size and at least two of them.
Turkey Day went well. I tucked back into bed with Bear and ahem... overslept... because the boys smuggled the baby off to play with her. So I had to get up and scramble a bit to get the turkey in the oven and the dressing started. But everything went as planned... although Panda being was wonderful because it let me finish up some things. I'd gotten behind because I'd forgotten to ask Bear to get mayonnaise when he shopped and so he had to bring it home when he came home from work. I was worried about the food being late so I had the boys get carrot sticks, celery sticks, and cheese made - and made homemade spinach dip and bean dip. We ended up not even touching the munchies because there was so much food when Panda arrived with her sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, waldorf salad, and ambrosia.
Which reminds me - Panda?? Did you mean to leave the bowl of ambrosia? I hope so, as two boys have been devouring it. I'll get the bowl back to you when they are done. ;-)
Panda was also over for dinner Wed night because she stopped by to bring J1 a present and he asked if she could stay for supper. She ended up staying til Bear got home at his "lunch" (10pm) because we were just yammering on about everything. Even more surprising, Miss Lenae decided Panda was on her very short list of cool people and snuggled right up to her.
We took J1 out for a belated birthday dinner last night since his dad was working on his birthday. He picked Fazoli's, because the Applebee's commercials had been making him crave lasagna. Then he coaxed Bear into going by Barnes & Noble because Panda's giftcard was burning a hole in his pocket. They weren't as mobbed as we thought they'd be, so he got to go have fun spending it. He ended up with Dungeons and Dragons for Dummies and the first Artemis Fowl book. I guess this means for Xmas we're going to have to get him his first set of dice and maybe a couple of real D&D books.
Speaking of Xmas, we've had folks discussing Lenae's "wish list" with us, but no one asking about the boys, so I guess that means they are getting gift cards again. The in-laws all think the boys are "too hard" to buy for (because it would kill them to have a 10 minute conversation and discover what their current interests are, I guess). I guess I should give them some credit. At least they remember the boys at the holidays - my family hasn't remembered birthdays or holidays ever. I hope people listen to us about what Lenae needs, but they never did with the boys. I don't like the toys with all the bells, whistles, and lights, because they don't teach her how to amuse herself and use her imagination. I'm definately more into the sorting toys, alphabet blocks, and so forth. But she is going to get her very own "remote control", if nothing else so she'll quit trying to steal the real one and chew on it. ;-)
