Holier Than Thou
Normally I like the pregnant LJ groups... there's too many "natural birth" divas on them and not enough moms who have had differing experiences. The divas always gang up on moms mentioning "induction" or god forbid "c-section", so I always pop in with something along the lines of "they aren't the end of the world, be educated and know what you're getting into." I also tend to end with the phrase "Good luck, mama - all that matters in the end is a healthy baby and healthy mama." Because yeah, c-sections are major surgery and if you don't know what the heck you're in for, you're probably going to have some trauma afterwards, even if everything is uncomplicated.
Apparently that's OFFENSIVE. Not to the potential c-section moms, but to the natural birth nazis (or one in particular) who yelled at me today. I'm just having an *eyeroll* moment, as she is trying to dictate to me what I'm allowed to say in the group. Yeah right - only the mods can do that, and none of them have yet spoken up when I've joined a c-section posting, and I've yet to have the original poster claim offense at what I said. There are reasons there are several communities devoted to natural birth on LJ... perhaps if her feelings are so easily traumatized, she should stick to those instead of general communities where *gasp* people discuss alternative birth methods.
Yup, I'm going to be bossed around by someone who has the phrase "whore" in their username and who spends 75% of her posts to others browbeating them about natural birth, breastfeeding, and if they aren't Super Crunchy Natural Mom, they're a failure. Right after pigs fly and hell freezes over. (Figured I'd rant here rather than hijacking the poor mom's thread to argue with Miss Birth Diva.)
Although the next person who states or implies I haven't "given birth" because I've had c-sections may get ripped a new one... Fine then. They can come financially support these two strange young beings at my house that I "didn't" give birth to. Where's that damn stork? He messed up my order where I specified "no teenage attitude". LOL
