OB Appt Update

Jan 19, 2007 08:31

My OB appointment went well.  Blood pressure was 128/50, and baby girl's heartrate was 136.  She swatted the doppler really hard when he was trying to get a count and he laughed and asked if she did that often now.  I said "anytime something touches my belly and she's active, yup."  Fundal height measures right on target.  I only gained one pound ( Read more... )

Yeah that's the best things about Dr. Chang is that he always delivers his own babies. Even if he is not on call, he comes in at 3am to do his own deliveries and always with a smile!

Ohhh April, I'm so excited. I hope I'm working on one of the days you come in.

I hope you're working too that day. This is the first baby I haven't delivered with my grandmother on staff as a nurse. I was only half joking at Xmas when I asked her if she really needed to be retired and could she move to Little Rock. She was scheduled to be off the day J2 was born but switched work days with a coworker so she could be the one to do all his first work in the nursery.

If she behaves and you're working on Friday the 13th, that'll be the day. ;-)

I loved the glucose test. I love the orange drink they give it tastes like the orange drink from Mcdonalds, in which I craved with my first pregnancy.

*laughs* I'll drink just about any soda except the fruit flavored ones, so it was pretty yuck to me, but nothing like the syrup stuff they used to foist off on you. I was able to chug it down in less than 5 minutes. I didn't feel sick til later, and that was missing a meal + adding massive glucose to my system. Today I have a headache and tummy ache as the lovely side effects.

They tell you to drink the drink slowly with in the hour. I think I had mine down with in 15 minutes and they got mad at me for drinking it too fast. I love sugar it didn't bother me.

Lovely how directions vary eh? Mine said to drink it all within 5 minutes an hour before the test. I had to write down exactly when I finished it so they wouldn't miss the window for the blood draw.

When my endocrinologist gave me the glucose test about 5-6 years ago (non pregnancy related diabetes test) it was the same - quick downing of the yucky syrup they had.

With my hypoglycemia, sugar in larger quantities makes me sick. I often push the icing off birthday cakes because I'll get a stomachache if I eat the cake + all the icing.

he's doing really well...i cant believe how much weight he's gained. I think he set a record for a breastfed baby when we went to the doctor for our one week follow up (he gained 12 oz in one week!). My health is still up in the air altho it doesnt seem to be anything urgently critical. Ive just been trying to get used to everything lol.

I hope so too. I've not been much of a sugar-holic at all this pregnancy, and being on bedrest probably contributed to my GD before.
