Gah. I hate the new posting interface. I want my userpics back at the bottom where they belong, and WHY does the cursor automatically have to be in the main box instead of the subject line? But enough whining...it's here to stay, so I'll have to suck it up and get used to it when I'm not at home.
I talked to Gigi last night to confirm we'd be at her Xmas dinner on the 21st and she told me that we and my FIL were the only ones attending. Aside from a cousin who is working (and his schedule is well known to Gigi), everyone complained that she didn't consult them first on setting the date and time. Geez! She's nearly 77 years old. She shouldn't have to adjust HER schedule to accommodate other folks. I still have to coordinate all the specifics of Xmas down south with my sister and Mamaw, and my FIL probably won't be happy that we aren't attending his thing on Xmas afternoon. But with Papaw's cancer, we're definately spending this year with him. He might get 5 more Xmases - and he might not.
The boys are spending tonight with my FIL, who is fussy because we aren't letting them stay all weekend with him. We pick them up tomorrow afternoon, then have our own pre-Xmas stuff to get finished. The longer they stay, the more likely we'll have something to gripe at FIL about (usually a movie that was inappropriate for the boys to watch). I get tired of having to rely on my 12 year old to make judgement calls about movies when there and to take his brother to another room to play because the adults can't be trusted to not watch crap in front of them. I wish he was just insane like my family - then I wouldn't feel bad about saying "no" when he wants to visit. At least he's making an effort to spend time with them, and more often it seems lately than he used to.
I need to find a new coat. Mine is getting impossible to zip up, and while the weather's nice and mild, that can change with the hour around here in winter. Bear told me to just leave it unzipped but my belly gets cold! J1 needs a new coat anyway; silly boy has outgrown last year's coat that was too big then. Mine's rather unisex, so he keeps asking me when I'm getting a new one. Impatient boy!
I measured both fo the boys the other day after J1 hugged me and I realized he is above my chin now in height. He is now 4 foot 9.5 inches, and J2 is 4 foot 8.5 inches. Another year, and I'll bet J1 is at least as tall as I am (5'3").
Today's another get-paid-to-eat-a-free-lunch-at-my-desk day. We're trying a new place and the lunches smell really good. Everything's got labels not only detailing WHAT it is, but who its for. No guessing based on what the sandwich "kinda" looks like; lovely. AND they got the vegetarian order correct, which is always a chore. I'm being brave (haha) because I'm trying the "frog eye salad". I've had something like it before, but everyone's letting me be the guinea pig to see if it is any good from this shop. Looks like it is the version with tapioca - even yummier. We're doing menus for next year. Everyone that comes to the lunch meetings gets six menus from different places and can pick 2 lunches from each. Then I can just rotate their choices as we order lunches and avoid having to remember who is vegetarian and who's not (the "nots" get a turkey sandwich if they forget to order). *peeks in lunch container* Oooooh. Cookies too.
Mmm. Cookies...
