Feels like all I'm doing is working lately (lots of 9-12 hour days lately), just to stay on top of things. The new girl who was supposed to start on the 16th backed out because she got a job offer in her career field (something medical), so they are back at square one for getting extra help in the other department, which has priority over MY extra help. Ah well... I'll survive. But MAN, I hate "holidays" that aren't solid across the board ones like Christmas and Thanksgiving. Half my stations are closed and half the rest people took personal days off, so I can't get my spot times in. Then there's the three so far who have either bungled the spot times or pre-empted my spots. *sighs*
We spent the weekend mostly holed up at the house, with occasional peeks out at all the ice in our yard. Bear snapped some pics (
here for those interested) of our yard - and the poor flowers that thought it was spring already amidst the ice. The last pic is my "favorite".
In an act of "what goes around, comes around", our obnoxious white trash neighbor met with the bad karma repayment of his crashing down our disabled 85 year old neighbor's fence safety railing and not apologizing. He went out in his 2WD Jeep, playing in the ice, then came home to his relatively flat driveway and parked behind their van. Moments after he'd gone inside, the Jeep slid down the slight incline and thunked right into the van. Hubby said he wouldn't have believed it himself if he hadn't watched it happen while he was out front taking pics of the ice.
Made it to work safely today, although late. There were still quite a few ice patches on my route in, and the "freezing mist" the weather folks were blabbing about was darn near freezing rain. Kept icing over the windshield. Needless to say, hubby drove me in. I don't drive on anything icy, and definately not when the windshield's freezing over. Poor guy is sick... but he still made sure I got here safely when I know he would have preferred to stay in bed.
We're still "house hunting". I may have found a townhouse on Friday. Hubby's going to look at it today to check for anything I might have overlooked. I'll blather more about that if we decide to rent it, I guess.
Lunchtime's over... back to the grindstone.
