Probably because I started crying on the phone to the CDO.
In going through bosslady's desk, I found an NSF slip, dated 9/2/05. We would have received it 9/6 or 9/7.
It was for the health insurance check, which had been bounced.
She KNEW it had been bounced, if not on the day the crisis began, on the day after at the latest. She never said a word to me. She lied to Kaiser. I'll bet she hasn't handled that money order for them either.
Kaiser re-runs NSF checks (god help me that I know they double-run checks...I shouldn't know that sort of info if the business was honest and solvent.) So I booted up the bosslady's iMac and read her email. I have open permission to access her email and computer for anything I need it for, so it's not even ethically wrong for me to do so.
She allowed the Kaiser check to bounce for the second time today. She also paid four of six pending payroll checks, allowing two more to bounce. There wasn't enough money from either company to cover everything.
We've lost the employee health insurance. I called the CDO and just burst into tears and he told me to go home. So I'm going.
