To my father, Jim Phillips--I love you very, very much. I will strive to be even half the officer you were, half the family man you were, half the leader you were, or even half the man you were... You taught me so much, and yet you left me with so many questions. I know you heard me, Dad. It hurt me so much to see you like that, but years from now I won't think of that when I am reminded of you. I'll think of you coming home from work and rallying the dogs around you. I'll think of you and I at the Broncos games. I'll think of you as a man who sacrificed so much just for any minor comfort of his family. I know you'll watch over us from wherever you are. Don't worry; I'll take care of everyone while you're gone. Thank you for being you and giving our family your very best. I thank God for your mere presence in my world. I love you forever--
--Your son,
James
