Duela looked away from the vanity where she was fixing her make-up. She smiled a little before calling, "Come in."

"Well, it's supposed to be bad luck," Duela replied before she laughed. "But I'm not really a big believer in luck."

Duela smiled at him. "A little foolish for ordering a white wedding dress." She grinned a little more. "But seriously? I feel good. How are you doing?"

Duela put her hand on his cheek. She closed her eyes briefly, trying not to let herself think about too much. "Thank you," she whispered when she finally opened her eyes. "It means... a lot. I... I know I give you hell sometimes, waiting for you to... I don't know. Waiting for you to do something to deserve it." She sighed. "But I love you. Even if I probably don't act like it sometimes."

"You act like yourself. That's always been enough for me - it should be enough for anyone." His hand covered her. "What I meant to say is that I've always wanted you to be happy, no matter what that entails."

"You make me happy," Duela replied. "Happier than I can believe sometimes. I'm always on my guard, waiting for something to happen because of it."

"Something will happen - a great many somethings, and all of them good, I hope." Finally, he smiled again.

She smiled a little as well. "I hope so too. Whatever happens... we're in it together."
