Perhaps the greatest thing that can happen in a reunion is the trip down memory lane in the events that everybody cherished or hated. This is what happened to me.
The K boys (AHS 2004) had a mini reunion at pip's place in LGV. Jed, having graduated in Georgetown with a summa cum laude standing, came home from the states to visit everybody. Then, one by one, everybody started sharing stories about the high school memories we built during the 4 year stay we had at the Ateneo.
Then one question popped out of the blue.
"Saan kayo nag enjoy? High School or College?"
Everybody answered.
Here's mine.
You really can't compare. High School was like a liminality stage wherein you dont feel young yet you are not obliged to be old. College is different. The freedom you have can either make you responsible or destroy you. It's a wake up call to be mature. To be responsible. To grow up.
Waking up in the mornings during high school was different. You think about the longtests, the recess and lunches, the classmates you have for 7 hours straight 5 days a week and the feeling that you have 4 years to know who you really are.
Waking up in the mornings for college is also different. You still think about the responsibilities in school.
But this time, you think about your life.
And what lies ahead.

Ikaw? Saan ka mas nag enjoy? High School or College?
