So it appears that my plans for the future have changed a bit. Instead of looking at PhD programs, I might just get a JD instead. After all, my mom always told me I should be a lawyer. :D In reality though, it allows me to teach (which is what I really want to do) without having to do research (which I don't find nearly as exciting) and it complements what I already have, my MBA, as well. After all, more than half of HR is legal compliance, which is why a lot of HR departments are under legal departments, organizationally speaking. So, it all complements each other very well, especially if I decided to focus in labor law. It's also one year less in school than a PhD, and if I get it at a ridiculously prestigious university, all the better.
Not that this helps me with looking for a job this year. I haven't found anything yet, and am even having trouble finding jobs to apply to. I'm considering going with a temp agency, though that doesn't help a whole lot with medical insurance. At least not for a while. The question is, if I go with a temp agency, should I stay here in Conn. or go back to more familiar territory? I already know I could get a temp position back home, but...
I have to admit, New Haven isn't my favorite place in the world. But it's not terrible, and Anthony's here. We've already discussed me either going to law school elsewhere or working elsewhere this year, and we're sure we can work it out. Especially since Anthony likes the northwest a lot and would like a reason to go back there... which me being there would provide, of course. I'd much rather decide where I'm going to be and look for jobs there... but that hasn't worked very well thus far. I'm at least going to wait until the end of August before deciding on the temp thing, but I will look into it further, and keep applying. If anyone has any ideas or leads, let me know. :P
