Ho-ho-ho

For us in the house of bears, the holidays have done come and gone, for the most part. There is that little matter of the Manny being inclined to the Eastern Orthodox faith, such that to him Christmas is still days away on his calendar, but thats his own personal tree to flock, so to speak. Our own pean to the good ol pagan days has been duly undecorated and hauled off, the Star trek ornaments have been carefully packed away, the bright yard lights we'd strung up in concordance with our neighbors have been wound up and packed away (red & white on the trees was our street's theme this year, tho we did see fit to add trimming all of our other foliage with pink- for flavor, doncha know), gifts were disbursed, and the holiday party schedule has been approved, slogged through, and doggedly checked off for another year. Given that we are all on a hard gym regimen with attending dietary restrictions (save Beth, of course), the dinners were particularly onerous but we put up a brave face and passed along the gravy as needs demanded. Oh, the tragedy of it all.

It was very domestic in a very suburban way, which has been the point of quite a bit of what we've seen fit to do over the last little while- these needs must, and all that. Personally, I still struggle with my current circumstances mightily- suburbia makes my battered soul itch in untidy places, and the fact that it still does after all these years of practice is disquieting indeed. I can't go on like this in the long term, 'tis plain, but I find int he balance more disquiet in my personal circumstances than over the current locale. there is much that I don't like about my current social circumstances & circles, my choice in default careers, and in my interactions with friends and family. So it goes again - i've been here before, je?

It's gonna be a hell of a year, kids.
