Pray, does anyone out there in my wide world o' social have a stray
ffffound invite to spare? I would be *most* appreciative, I would indeed...
The hard drive recovery folks say that my dad's hard drive is in fairly bad shape, but they are doing what they can- no word from them today, which I choose to take as a somewhat hopeful sign. Oddly enough, the tech we've been working with mentioned that they see relatively simultaneous drive failures across identical makes and models occasionally, and that it's been a bad season for mini hard drives of a certain vintage... go figure.
Saturday we all packed up and went touring with the Austin Slow Food group at
Yonder Way Farm, a recently fledged organic concern outside of Brehnam; it was a fascinating tour, and left us deeply impressed & intrigued by the idea of it all. We also dropped off Dad's refurbed mini (doubled ram, quadrupled hard drive, and no old data) while we were in the area, as he's still laid up fighting off pneumonia (oh, he's fine now, as apparently he was only nearly dead a few weeks ago while he suffered in silence, the putz)- but if any of you have his email, please send him good wishes - he needs to rebuild his e-mail address book.
Sunday, we took a stab at reviving the grand semi traditional Sunday Dinners that Kip & Porter were so fond of producing a while back; we invited over a few friends from the neighborhood & a few guests from far away (a nice couple from San Antonio we met a good while back that we've been trying to invite back for a while), & Porter produced a number of his fabulous home made pizzas, as well as some movies, 'n some Mexican Train dominoes- t'was a fine day for one n all.
Monday, and I'm back on a coding tear at work, even as they try to debug the contractor's package that's to replace my work- at the speed they are working, it may take a while... My private beta invite for
BumpTop for Mac came though, so I'm testing fancy GUI designs; whee.
It looks to be one of those getting things done sort of weeks...
