I've forgotten just how good Infernal Affairs (aka, the film that was remade into The Departed) is.
A friend had the International release where they had English and French dub versions, and that was such a melodramatic failboat of lol.
Young undercover cop: "I'm either going to be killed by cops or beaten up by gangsters" *pained look from actor*
Me: Oh, second hand embarrassment. ROFFLECOPTOR.
I could handle it anymore and went back to the original Chinese.
The movie is intense. I've always vaguely remembered the movie as "good", but re-watching years later and am still crying and short of breath at various scenes? So much, so much love.
I just want to give Tony Leung's character a hug. He deserves one sfm.
Anyhow. Yes, so if you haven't seen it, you really really should. It's an intensely suspenseful, fast-paced action cop film, cop vs. gangster, except where the cop is the gangster and the gangster is the cop. Complicated and brilliantly done.
