O_O I am SO out of touch with Japanese music. 've only been downloading new releases, so I must have missed the news.

Nope, we're good. w-inds. is still going strong, Ryuichi is still not solo-ing, some guy from SMAP got arrested for indecent exposure (WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME BEING NAKED, quoth he to a police officer. I want that on a t-shirt. Oh wait, it already is.), Gackt is still being Gackt, and is going to be the new voice of some freaky music software that replaces the need for human singing, Yoshiki has ignored SKIN without a word or release in typical Yoshiki fashion, Heath is not leaving X Japan (yay! I adore Heath!), and X Japan has a world tour? No Canadian locations though, boo, and more boo, Alex left ONE OK ROCK because of (wrongful, by some accounts) charges, which sucks, but I already knew that, no words still on their wiki page. Oh, and Hikki and BoA are not making too much of a mark in US yet; my fingers are still crossed for BoA cuz girl can dance, yo and I was heavily disappointed by Hikki's album, so.
Phew. I think I'm mostly caught up? Anything else I missed?
OH WAIT WHAT: Miyavi is going to be a daddy? And is married to Melody? That's like, Marlyn Manson getting together with Heidi Montag or something, an uber visual kei marrying an insignificant pop starlet. And he is going to be a daddy. Can you see MM being a dad? No? Then neither can I for Mivs. Kudos, and best of luck to them both though, even with the shotgun marriage.
