A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to make an old dream come true: experience an Aerosmith concert! I had been waiting for it for a long time (even dreaming about travelling to the states if it had to come to that) and last year -sadly- their last european tour was announced. (They're breaking up. I guess it's because they're too old to keep doing this kind of shit.)
So, of course, I was there the first day to buy tickets and I spent a considerable amount to be on the first rows but it was SO worth it! My girlfriend is a bit afraid of crowds, so I wasn't able to be as close as I would have liked to (and this made me hate the human race for being so obsessed with smartphones because on the best parts everyone held their phones up to record -WTF?!), but still it was memorable.
Old Joey Kramer seemed like he was about to collapse during the first 5 songs or so (he looked like he was playing the drums soooo slowly I couldn't understand how the songs sounded right lol) but then he kind of woke up. Tom Hamilton is so classy we've fallen in love with him. Joe does crazy shit with his guitar (and one thing struck me: Steven said about him "the only one who's better than me" -and that, being Steven Tyler, is *something*). And Steven was born to be a rockstar: at first I thought he was high (because of his face and speech) but then I realised with all those twists and dances he would have fallen down if that was the case; he looks so crazy on stage I thought he was going to throw his microphone (with the stick attached to it) to the fans; I just loved him.
I am crossing my fingers and wishing a DVD comes out with a concert from this tour recorded because I want to watch every second again and everything I couldn't see there (for instance, Brad -I could only take a glimpse at him a couple of times).
Some years ago I bought the official autobiography of the band, but I hadn't really gotten into it until this year. I am still reading it and it's mindblowing. The things these five people did back when they were on the top (and getting there). It makes me appreciate even more some of the things they have done. Although it also makes me a bit sad seeing how some songs were just written to get the new album out of the way (but some other songs have a new meaning now that I know the backstory to them). I'm loving it! I've been listening to Aerosmith since I was 10, but now I'm becoming even more of a fan. I'm just sad I won't have the chance to see them live again. :( (But! I could at least do it once!! =D)
