Before I start, Why Mayhem is holding Sons of Anarchy back - nothing I haven't covered in odd musings, and while I don't agree *literally* on the every-bike-scene-is-padding thing I do feel his main argument about not concentrating on Charming as the arena holds water.

Of all the ways to make sure Clay goes on breathing and Jax sticks around... there's something delightful about how stupid this all is. Really.
There are many, many, many other ways to prompt a Rationale Speech than "so why are you telling me this?", or "so why are you doing this". Just saying, Kurt. Again.

Can season five have Niner/Sons war? Like seriously? Only bring it to Charming not waste it all on Oakland testostero races? And let's have Vivica back yo.
Jax is at least *paraphrasing* what we've already seen to Opie. Slight improvement. Opie VP yo. And Opie is at least putting "why are you doing this" originally.
Yay Opie. GIVE THIS MAN THE PREZ PATCH DAMMIT. He ain't ready but at least has a chance of maturing.
Jax is telling Tara what we just saw again. Somebody shoot him NOW. And get Tara with a stray bullet in the process. Or is she gonna go ballistic (which would at least be interesting)

3/4 of the way through and all Tig has done is walk out of a room. Not Good Enough.
This big head-of-table HEAVY MAN!EMO thing really only works if you think Jax taking over, staying in Charming et al is a tragedy. After this last season it's impossible to care enough about him... or, alternatively, it's the first ballsy thing he's done. He looks good in the chair, tho. Must admit that. GREAT gesture moment.
Sooo... TIG WALKS INTO A ROOM. AND SITS DOWN. /deliriously happy right now not, but at least he's ensured a big enough fucked-up situation to kick next season off with a bang.
Chibs is the Sergeant at Arms now? *confused* Hmmmm. TIG GETS TO NOT LET ON HOW HE FEELS ABOUT THIS BUT IS LOOSE CANNON THING OBVS OR ELSE. So... will we not get innovative scenes of Happy torturing people?
Opie got balls yo :) AND SO DOES TARA YES. Is interesting sour commited old lady now, y/y? let's see her develop the guts to get real about this.

AND TIG DIDN'T GET TO DO NUFFIN AT ALL NOT ONE THING. Vastly let down, Kurt. On the other hand, otp still in position.
In sum: about eight minutes worth of plot that took 40 to broadcast. I like it got where it went, but holy moley did it have to take 14 weeks to get there? Let's hope next season is a little more tightly written and more about, well, politics, to put it bluntly. No Long-Lost Sekrets we don't care about being used to pad the action please.
And if only one good thing has come out of this, it's OTP still firmly in position. And stronger than ever. And angsty. And could be very nasty and beating selves and others and maybe each other up and ALL TEH FEELINGS.
Well, make it two. Hopefully lots more CIA MOFO stuff next year 'cos this whole US/cartel dirty-doings thing rocks. And someone, somewhere, will write Luis/Romeo.
