Ignoring the urge to paperwork myself crazy tonight - it won't bloody help, never does, it's what goes on on the day that counts - I'm finally catching up with Halcyon Times, the new Scorchers record.
Ain't half bad, is it? New lineup sounds good - there's a lot of power there; some great songs (what a range of collaborators!), and the down'n'dirty riffs are downer and dirtier than expected so yay Warner. (He is God, amirite?) Plus Perry on backing vocals on over 1/3 of the tracks - a winner overall. Keener on some tracks than others - some could use a bit more arsekick - but right now Gettin' Nowhere Fast and Mona Lee seem to be the standouts but the others are growing on me.
ETA: add Deep Holy Water to the top of that list, and of course Better Than This for the Warner lead. Have a clip of'em bashing it out in Hanover last year, and a wee doco on the Making by Pontus Snibb hisownself.
