I know, I'm as guilty as anyone of The Childish Who Rant - have been a bit OTT at times in my frustration at Soap!Who content, for example (no, really? ;) last week being a case in point) but dammit each to their own. I miss fandom being primarily about Exciting Adventures In Space with the odd spot of NA angst for depth (rather than the other way round).
That said, I've been quite enjoying Behind The Sofa for commentary - a lovely fuzzy air of the old Frock vs Gun days, even though that's no longer really a framework for discussion (which is weird in itself). I'll have to say the contributors often make me look twice and see the good things I've overlooked/neglected to notice. And it's the one place I do still feel part of the Target Audience (even though I can't possibly be, logically, and the old Geek vs Gurl thing still applies).
Perhaps the Blums of this world are right, and it's all about some form of sour grapes on my part (as an Old Skooler)... :( not a conclusion I particularly want to come to, I must say, but perhaps he's right *headdesk*
And Rusty? He put together an interesting concept with New Who, but his and his team's execution is far from genius on a week-to-week basis. You're not imagining it. I have no Old School axe to grind, I just know what I see.
*paroxysms* so it's not just me then You have no idea how much better I feel, reading that :) Especially the recent suggestion that all the "hate" in fandom stems from some form of jealousy (IIRC, people's loss (with age) of the ability to self-insert as Beloved Companion, or something). Wha?
I think you're right about TPTB - even the things that annoy me most about Nu Who would (probably) nark me less, done differently (or less often, come to that).

QFT.
I poke an eye into the Pagoda occasionally, but it seems to mostly be everyone else bagging out Kitson for having critical faculties and applying them to the show.
