Tech wank: gawd... I'm going to jinx myself by saying this, but the PC switch is more or less totally sorted, apart from finding a reliable video capture card compatible with Vista - but that can wait. Not being able to watch DVDs is a pain tho'; I'm up to the Zammo On Heroin saga on Grange Hill, with another three seasons waiting :( Nice day made completely horrid by horrid bloody doctor now being ameliorated by using The Old PC With Bits Missing to watch him sell his mum's valuables :)
Thoroughly enjoying Michael Chabon's The Yiddish Policeman's Union. The language is just *edible*.
Forgot to write yesterday: one of our biggest troublemakers *ran group time*. I joked to the little bugger he should play Simon Says (rather than whack someone with a large box of Lego because "they weren't listening". NO fair THEM being allowed to do it, say I :) So... he did - sat himself on a chair on the mat and the whole bally group (24 kids) joined in. He kept them under control, led them in two songs, and sent them to the bathroom in strict rotation to wash their hands for afternoon tea. We just sat back and watched him - god it was lovely :) and one of the most orderly transitions we've had this year :)
Am no longer the Shortest Staff Member, yay :) we've a new casual who'd be lucky to make 4'10. Feels bloody weird talking *down* to someone over six.
