Reading entire Bible

Nov 22, 2008 02:36

Hey guys. I had a debate recently with a friend, and I need to know if I am being overly cynical about this.

I hold the belief that after a certain number of years of being a Jesus follower, you should read the Bible all the way through. At least once in your lifetime. NOT saying you need to understand every word. But you should know what is in the ancient pages.

I guess the crux of my argument is…how can you stake your eternal destiny on a Book you have NOT read the entire way through?

Not saying this is the mark of a ‘full’ Christian. Lot of people groups recently served by missionaries may only have the gospels and some of the Old Testament translated into their own language. But I do think…if someone does claim to love God and want to know Him more…but has no desire to read every word He wants us to know…there is something off about that.
