Recipes: Californian gumbo

I can't claim any knowledge of how to cook gumbo that doesn't come from a recipe, but here's what I came up with tonight...

Oh, I've got to give you my gumbo recipe

I don't eat okra, and I forgot to mention the pepper - I opted for aleppo rather than cayenne - I wanted the smokiness of the aleppo.

What's funny is that I don't eat Okra myself either, unless I deep fry it.

It's the thickening agents in the Okra that I want in the gumbo.
