I've been getting sick a lot lately. Actually, I've been sick for the past two Fridays, now, and I feel sick today, too. Hopefully will not have to call in sick tomorrow, because I really need the work, and if I always call in sick on Friday, they might think I'm just skipping work to fool around or something. Blah. Maybe it's because it's towards the end of the week that I'm feeling sick. Because I've been working a whole week already. Or something.
It's really this weather, too. Mom says I always get sick roundabouts now. Because the temperature keeps fluctuating so much, and I tend to not like wearing heavier clothing.
My stomach was really hurting today towards the end of work, around 5:30-6. I dunno why. I had lunch around 1:30, so it was hours and hours ago, plus I had the same thing for breakfast and was fine...
So for dinner, I decided I'll make something lighter. Sick people food! Like oatmeal! So I had some of that, and it was pretty good, but now I want to throw up. I'm not sure which is worse. I'm also not sure if I want to eat at all tomorrow.
I guess I'll drink a ton of water and go to bed early or something and see if that fixes anything.
In brighter news, I finally went and ordered Type-0! In Japanese. >.>; I still don't know how Jami managed to rope me into that one. Dissidia was okay because it was a fighting game and Paku Romi. FF4 was okay because I'd played it so many times. But Type-0? Baw. XD; I couldn't even figure out what to do in the demos. Or, well. Natsubi was easy enough, but Zeroshiki was just @_____@.
Although, actually, I'm kinda tempted to do a Let's Play type of thing for it. For friends/FF Land only, probably. No one else really needs to see me fail at Japanese that badly. >.>; I know there's some wiring that can hook PSPs up to a computer, since one of my friends streamed his Dissidia playing for me to see before, but do any of you know anything about it? Would most electronic stores have them or should I go to a Chinatown type place? Also, any idea if it'd work with an unmodded PSP? I'm kinda proud of my legal little toys here. *coughs*
And then, unrelatedly, I've been reading Le Morte d'Arthur. Mysti and I were discussing Arthurian/FF4 references, and she mentioned it, and I vaguely remembered some stuff about it and decided that, you know what, I would like to read it! It's... It's kinda boring and hilarious at the same time. Very unintentionally hilarious, but that doesn't really make it less funny. It's just so... completely... ridiculous most of the time, at least to my modern sensibilities.
Some highlights:
-There was a war. A huge war between Arthur's people and Lot and the other rebels. The entire battle went like this: Sir A unhorsed Sir B, and Sir C saw, and Sir C was pissed off, so Sir C knocked Sir D off his horse and stole the horse for Sir C, and then Sir E saw Sir D unhorsed, and stole Sir F's horse for Sir D, whereupon Sir G knocked Sir H off his horse and presented it to Sir F. As far as I could tell, the whole thing was a game of Musical Horses.
-People keep wanting to fight Lancelot and/or Gawain. Which is fine. Except. They like going about it in very indirect ways, such as killing or capturing a large number of knights to try to get other knights to seek them out to try to beat them, in hopes that one day, one of these knights would be Lancelot or Gawain. Meanwhile, aside from like, one year of adventuring each, both Gawain and Lancelot seemed to pretty much stay at court. Where, you know, a smarter challenger would just... go to ask for them.
-"A lady asked me" is the excuse for everything. "I'm sorry I murdered everyone! I feel really bad about it now! But you see, a lady asked me to!" "Oh, well, that's fine then."
-People REALLY can't tell each other apart aside from shields. Which isn't completely unsensible, since helms and all, but. They don't tend to ask before beating the other person to a pulp, except where story dictates. both of them lives. So you get like. "NOW THAT I'VE KILLED YOU, WHO ARE YOU?" "I'M BALAN, BALIN'S BROTHER! AND PFFT, I'VE KILLED YOU TOO, YOU KNOW. SO WHO ARE YOU?" "WHAT. I'M BALIN." "WELL. CRAP." I mean, really, can't they ask before the battle. Or, like, fine, during, but before getting injured to the point of no return? *shakes head* What is it like, "if you can't kill me, you're not worthy of my attention?"
-Okay, there's this one story. Some lady and her husband tricked Lancelot onto a tree without armor/weapons, and then the husband tried to kill him, but Lancelot managed to beat him back with a stick, and then chopped off his head. And the lady was like. "Alas, why have you killed him?" Uhhhhhhhhh. I WONDER?
-Wow, the penalty for murder. XD; Some guy pulled a "'LOOK WHAT'S THAT?" on Lancelot and chopped off his (the guy's, not Lancelot's) wife's head. And Lancelot was kinda :| about it, so as punishment, he sent the guy to Guinevere, wearing the dead lady's head on his back around his neck to ask her for a punishment. And what was Guin's response, you ask? Was it, "Oh, ew, why would he do that?" Nope, it was to tell the guy to go to the Pope to confess/apologize/whatever. While still wearing the head. And by the way, to sleep with the dead body every night on the way there. Wow, that's some queen! >.>; Although I think if make the punishment for murder closer to this, we might have less crimes! XD
-I love how they take prisoners. "Go to the king and tell him you're my prisoner!" "Okay!" Or in Lancelot's case, "Go to the queen and tell her you're my prisoner!" And he's surprised people know about his thing for Guinevere. *shakes head* Speaking of which...
-Everyone knew there was something between Lancelot and the queen, except Arthur. XD Every single lady's response to Lancelot was basically like, "I know you only love the queen, consider me please / pretty please / I'll love you forever / I'll kill you if you don't / I'll kill myself if you don't / I'll kill someone else if you don't."
I've also been trying to draw more! I finally started up on a comic, but I'm not satisfied with the layout or the sketch or... anything, so I'll probably restart it and try something else... I need a smaller page, I think. I'm not quite used to drawing so big, even if I know it's technically better. And anyway, I think doing something is better than nothing at all. It's not the comic I was planning on earlier, but it should be good, and I've a slightly more solid idea for this one. It's going to be a fairy tale thing! Kind of like those twisted fairytales things but maybe a little less creepy, because I can't handle creepy that well. >.> But with hopefully-stronger female characters, starting with a Snow White who hates being the fairest of them all.
And speaking of stronger female characters, and fairy tales, I've been watching more of Once Upon a Time. I'm pretty happy with the female characters there! They still have some silly moments, but for the most part, they're portrayed as strong and independent and awesome. And I really like the thing with Little Red Riding Hood! XD Just about every episode makes me cry, though. Baw.
Right, back to drawing for a sec -- one of the comic book stores here is hosting a really interesting charity event called Sketch Cover Day. Basically, as they explained, sketch cover comics are comics with blank covers that fans buy and bring to cons and stuff for artists to draw on. They're hosting a charity event where you buy a sketch cover for $5 and spend 1 hour in-store to draw on it, and they'll pick the best ones and display them around the store to sell. And if it sells, they'll give you back your $5, and donate the rest to charity. And if it doesn't sell, they'll give you back your drawing, and donate the proceeds. So win-win, really!
Anyway, I'm pretty excited about it! I've no idea what to draw, though. Baw. The covers are actual comic covers, so they'd have a comic logo. But we can draw anything we want, anyway. So I dunno. A pretty girl.
Aaaaaand, uh, I got distracted and I am tired. Sleep time!
