Unbelievable. I truly hate social events.
I suppose I should start from the very beginning. Last evening was the party at the Kiryuu's house. Nanami pulled out all the stops, with bells and whistles as usual. She invited everyone who was anyone and then a few and it was obvious by the amount of people milling around and drinking champagne. As is customary and fashionable (and to avoid as much interaction as possible) I arrived late. Touga did a fabulous job of being a pretentious host. Really, I find myself speechless.
Miki was late, even moreso than myself which was quite a disappointment as I actually enjoy his company. Due to his prolonged absence, I found myself in the ever amiable presence of our favorite (being that he is the ONLY) vice president of the Student Council. As usual, he was more delightful to speak with than being run over by a train. I was interrupted from our show of polite banter by the sight of someone I hadn't seen for years.
For those of you who know me and my history, you will remember my old friend and mentor, Ruka Tsuchiya, hospitalized and in dire circumstances. I admit suspicion upon first seeing him on campus as his health was certainly not expected to be recoverable. However, it was a relief to see him looking so well, though a little peaked. It is unfortunate that he has decided it is his duty to do things that are completely uncalled for and act entirely too presumptuously.
I should mention now, that Shiori, another old friend... had shown up this evening also. I had no idea she was back on campus. And I honestly cannot face her yet. There are too many ... problems. Nevertheless, Ruka immediately interrupted us, asked Shiori to dance, and became quite the rake.
This was my cue to get out while I still could. I chased down Utena, and despite the inconsiderate crowd of duelists, challenged her. We are set to fight today. And I would appreciate my privacy next time Duelists. It is not too much to ask. I don't need any moral support and definitely don't need the snide little comments.
Utena did not take well to the challenge, as she obviously has not the faintest idea the meaning of the Rose Signet. Of all the ludicrous things to discover. And she had the GALL to talk to me as though I was the fool. I will find out why she bothers wearing it before I defeat her today. We both left upset. I, followed by Shiori.
