the mis-direction intro...
His first temptation was in regards to the state of his truck. For the most part he was satisfied with it. It ran, it was cheap on upkeep and it had belonged to his father. The only problem was getting the truck to move. If Lewis rushed in disengaging the clutch while in 1st gear the vehicle would shutter violently for a couple of seconds before evening out. The truck was clearly never in a hurry, even if Lewis was.
Lewis had replaced the clutch yet the issue continued. This meant the problem lay somewhere within the engine. This first temptation had nothing to do with replacing/tearing apart the engine. Far from it. The truck was ten years old and well pass its break even point. No, Lewis was tempted to just get rid of the damn thing. Except that it had belong to his father. And of course his father was dead. Dead for a while now, nearly eight years.
His mother had moved on, or at least attempted to. People that have been out of the dating pool for thirty years should not really try to re-enter it. But such was life, mom had dating issues and Lewis had clutch issues. We should all be grateful if either of these are the biggest problems we face in the world today.
His second temptation was that he wanted to kill himself.
AUDIO UPDATE:
This is what happens when you start writing a love song, and 1/4th of the way through decide to make it sound like 'The Black Keys' and then midway through that, Heath Ledger dies and then frankly you just get tried of fucking around with the thing by the 2nd hour and want to go to sleep.
