Hey! =D I thought I heard Yuan muttering about some new guy in town. Listen, I'm really bored and have to take out a few crazy boars that have been tearing up the gardens on the west side of the city. Want to come with? Come on! It'll be lots of fun! You know, since we're both swordsmen and all, we can talk about form and techniques and "fwacha!" and manly stuff. What do you say? =D
((OOC: No, I dunno how emoticons work here, but it's to show his naivete and... idiocy(?)... yeah XD))
{OOC: By the way, the parenthetical statements are Asch's unspoken thoughts, not my OOC remarks.}
[Asch is rather baffled by this comment. He blinks for a moment, struggling to take in everything that was just said. Finally, he pieces together a weak response.]
...You lost me on "fwacha" part. Do you really say that in combat? (How is that manly anyway? Sounds kind of weird.)
[He crosses his arms and frowns as he finally gets to his answer.]
I guess I can come. It's not like I'm doing anything else...Boars, huh? Are they really strong enough that civilians can't get rid of them without help? (This job is beneath me, but I shouldn't be picky right now.) This had better not be a waste of time.
So. Do I need to be a part of Ad Libitum to go with you?
No, of course I don't really say it in battle. Haha. But you know... it's a sound effect for that sudden rush when your sword connects with your opponent's.
[Lloyd rubs the back of his head sheepishly]
Hm... well, the boars aren't THAT strong, especially in small numbers, but most of the civilians here aren't fighters. They don't know how to use a weapon at all. Plus the number of monsters in the area has been getting bigger and bigger and sometimes they go into a frenzy. Not that I've been here that long, but... they're pretty unpredictable and that's why people are scared.
[Lloyd pauses for a moment in thought]
Well, I don't guess you have to join Ad Libitum, you can go as my guest! But it's nice to help people in need, isn't it? I'm sure we could use another fighter if you ever decided you were up to it.
[Lloyd smiles cheerfully and lowers his hand to rest on his hip]
I'm Lloyd Irving, by the way. Nice to meet you. Let's do our best!
...I guess I see what you mean, but it sounds more like a "voosh" to me. Then a "clang."
(I still can't believe I'm going to go kill a bunch of pigs.)
[Asch mulls over the word, "unpredictable."]
...Yeah. People really like the security of a predictable life, don't they? It's stupid.
[He decides to stop himself. Based on what he has seen, people have never heard of the Score. No use in being confusing or suspicious.]
I'll join. I'm off-duty (more like unemployed) right now. (Besides, I made a promise...not that this is my country.) Just tell me who to contact. I'm new to this place.
Huh. Well, maybe you're right about that. But I meant the adrenaline rush of it... not the sound of the sword. Oh well, it doesn't matter.
[Lloyd looks embarassed]
I guess it's nice to have a place you can go back to and feel safe. But... I guess if life was predictable it'd get pretty dull after a while. I think most people look for a happy medium. Maybe.
[Lloyd doesn't quite get it, but he doesn't much care, he's more interested in Asch agreeing to join.]
Really? Great! You definitely won't regret it. As for how to join, I guess you'll have to talk to Yuan about that. He's probably taking care of the Great Tree right now. I could take you to the guild, if you want, and we can wait there for him?
