The Order of Martel [PUBLIC]

{Asch's journal was somehow mixed in with some library books. It was returned to the inn for him to pick up, but until then, read away, though Asch might not like that.}

Of all of the people summoned from Auldrant, only one of them isn't part of the Order of Lorelei. I wonder why Martel is so specific about it. Maybe that's why she chose the ( Read more... )

Indeed...Martel's choices seem to be...questionable, in recent cases. Dist...even if he has his talents, it's not like we can trust him. In any case, he'll make a useful decoy.

But Martel seems to summon people for their abilities without taking personality into account. But then again, I can't quite imagine why she'd summon Paneer, who doesn't seem to have any special abilities that I know of. Maybe it's her moral support that Martel admired.

And Goede...even he has a useful ability.

No, you can't. He has no loyalties. [Smirk.] Yeah, you're right. A decoy isn't a bad idea...Though his scientific mind might actually be useful. He's obsessed with Jade. Maybe he can make Dist useful.

All of this is strange. I'm not even going to try to understand her reasoning anymore.

[Though mention of Goede sparks his curiosity.]

What kind of useful ability?

Perhaps he could...but his obsession with Colonel Jade strikes me as...creepy. I wonder what's going on with them...but at the same time, I don't want to know...

Martel has surely grown weaker by summoning these people here. I wonder if she's lost her reasoning entirely.

Goede can control the negativity. According to him and Paneer, the World Tree has a natural process of converting the negativity into mana. So if we can stop whatever is draining the mana from the world, the tree will absorb the negativity to restore the lost mana. Goede can aid in the process by transferring the negativity into the tree.

Just his obsession? Back in the Order, most people thought everything about him was creepy.

Humph. There's a reason why Dist clings to that four-eyes...(At least Jade comply with him on thatsubject.)

Huh...But it also sounds like he can use that negativity against us. Unless he becomes more stable, he should stay away from the World Tree.

Hmm...does anyone else find him annoying? I mean, we first met when I saved his pathetic life from a few harmless monsters, and yet he treats me like I'm some sort of barbarian. The nerve...

I suppose Goede could use the negativity against us, if he were stable enough to come up with the idea. But he hates the negativity...he hates his own existence. He's too confused and unstable to plot anything.

Yeah, but I've had to put up with him for years. He's like that to everyone but Jade and one one other person.

...As long as he stays out of the way.

I see...

Well, that's true. We shouldn't have to worry too much about him...I don't think. Still, it's best to remain cautious in case he loses control again.

Colonel Jade...I do know where he's gone, but if he doesn't return soon, I may have to check up on him.

[Asch looked away. Fomicry...]

Tch.Don't worry about him. Jade is like Dist. He doesn't die.

Ah...

*Smirk* So Dist doesn't die? That'll make him an even better decoy.

No. He has survived explosions, drowning and a few other things. You might want to make sure he doesn't lead a strong enemy to town if you do use him like that.

Do you mean his "brilliant" revenge plan? Oh, I'll be ready for whatever he desires to throw at me.

No, he saves that for his little revenge diary. He might accidentally lead the enemy over because he'd be too busy running away to think about the consequences.

Heh...he would do that, wouldn't he? He'd run away from the leaves blowing in the wind.

What is with him? How can he call himself a civilized human being? I'm far more calm and rational than he is, and yet he keeps calling me a savage. He's got some nerve...

He might fight if he had the means, but he doesn't right now.

It doesn't matter if you're more rational than he is. He's delusional. Jade's one of the only people he respects.

Ah, that much is obvious. I suppose there's nothing we can do about it, is there?

Another thing that bothers me about Martel's summoning pattern is the distinct lack of healers. And I think we have too many offensive magic users. Well, it's not too much of a problem for the versatile ones like you or Colonel Jade, but those like Arche or Genis? They might just get in the way.

[Asch may not agree with healers, but at least that sort of selectivity would increase his chances of seeing Natalia again.]

We already have Tear and Ion. We need more physical fighters.
