So I watched the new 90210. I know... I'm a dork. But leave me be, I was a fan of the original and I needed to see if/how bad they screwed up the new version.
Jennie Garth has a part and I'm happy with that. I'm glad that they had her character grow up from the original, which was almost to be expected. Shannon Doherty made an appearance, but it's a little too soon to actually comment on. And I'm nearly thrilled that they kept Nat! The Peach Pit isn't the same without Nat.
All in all, I think it's a bit too soon to make a full assessment, so I think I'm actually going to have to watch it again next week. Though I really believe that it is taking too many unrealistic turns. I mean, your teenage daughter leaves with a male peer who flies her to San Francisco to have dinner and, when you find out, she gets grounded and can't date for two weeks?!?!?!?!?! Realistically, that girl would have been dead! Her mom would have dug the grave after she found out and THEN confronted the teen.
But, so far, it's nearly as vapid and shallow as the original.
