I'm not really a car nut, but I enjoy them and sometimes find it fun to work on them. I decided to look up ram air systems today after some one told me they can increase horsepower and gas mileage... Only to find out that they never even considered making one of them for my specific car. They have them for the 2 door, but not the four door, some ( Read more... )

Do they have something like that for Bob?

We bought the Vibe because it claimed the gas mileage was over 30 for both city and highway (and it's big without quite being a minivan or SUV), but we're lucky, and I mean seriously, if we get 25 city.

Sorry you couldn't find something for yours. I'm surprised to find out that the engines are SO different in a 4 door than a 2. Weird.

Unfortunately, whatever miles per gallon they "claim" to have when you buy it is never what they actually have. Cars are tested for that kind of thing indoors, on a perfectly flat surface, with no wind resistance. It's one reason why I didn't get the Toyota Prius - I've heard that in real life, they don't get "50-60 miles per gallon", but around 30. My Saturn, on the other hand, seems to get around 26 average, but I've only tested that theory once because I kept forgetting to see how many gallons fit in the gas tank..haha. I found out yesterday that it fits only 12 gallons. No wonder I feel like I'm getting gas more often. I know my Grand Am had at least a 14 gallon tank. ^_^;

Yeah, unfortunately we realized when we bought Bob that the stated mileage wouldn't be the real mileage, but we had hoped that it would be at least a little closer. Highway was supposed to be somewhere in the mid-30's range, with city in the low 30's. Neither city nor highway is anywhere really close to 30. *shrugs* Just would be nice to see some truth in advertising, you know?

first thing to find out is did it come with a cold air intake or RAM air. Then you start looking, I know there are a lot of things out there that say they will improve the GM, I don't know if I believe all of them. A little searching and smart driving can go a long way. I know the EPA has a page of no cost tips that "get" you better mileage.--Derek

Did you try searching under the Dodge Stratus instead of the 4-door Sebring sedan? I mean, they're practically the same car, and that would explain why there isn't anything listed for the Sebring...
