So my trip was fun. We didn't do too much touristy stuff (no architectural tours or museums...*sigh*), but when we couldn't find the movie theater we wanted to go too until we were too late for the movie, we went to Navy Pier and had lots of fun on the ferris wheel. We walked around Wicker Park for a while and imagined living there, and saw some of the restaurants that had been suggested but didn't go in because we weren't hungry yet. The Music Box was probably the highlight of the trip for me, it's so old and beautiful and the ceiling is amazing. And "Coffee and Cigarettes" was great. I'll definitely see it again when and if it comes to Burlington (I hear it's at the Savoy right now!).
We had an exciting experience with a bum right as we were packing up the car to leave... we all regretted not getting a picture of him sitting on top of Ashley's parents' brand new Volvo trying to help us get the roof carrier closed. It was hilarious. Then he wouldn't let go of my hand and he kissed me on the cheek and called me "Red." I don't know if I'd recommend driving from Chicago to Burlington without stopping for the night, but we did it and it was alright, even if we were all a bit cranky by the end of it, and getting home at 3:30am was kind of fun in an adventurous sort of way. I'm still psyched to move to Chicago but I'm afraid that after this trip I've realized how much I don't want to leave Burlington because of how much I missed it after only having been gone for four or five days. I think Burlington will always be my home and living anywhere else will give me a permanent stomachache. But if I must leave, Chicago's a better place to go than...well...Buffalo. Or Boston. OK, I'm scared.
