Of Meet's, Hares and Crows
Yesterday went to my first SAFurs meet, i really had no idea what to expect. Got to Adelaide super early (9.40) and walked around for a while, looked at fur in Spotlight and Lincraft, for Blue Moo, had some alright furs, but not cheap. Went to JJ's and tried to get an Aquaman shirt, none left :( then wandered around a bit more, got to about 11.30, started heading to the balls stopped at the body shop just beforehand n got more soap, saw a group of people by the balls and one of them (Wildcat) was wearing ears, thank god she was too, otherwise i dont think i would have walked up to them haha. I had a fair idea what Fala looked like, but with the beard :P haha i wasnt sure, but it was all good.
We waited around until 12.15 by then everyone had got there, head count of 19 people! was awesome. Walked bout halfway to Chinatown and did introductions, so many people to remember >.> i feel bad for not remembering about half or more of them, they are all such awesome people. After that we went to chinatown, had lunch n sat around for an hour n a half, then cruised around the shops there, bought some crazy japanese and asian stuff. Mmmmm pocky <3! plus those crazy chalk tasting biscuit things lol and i so have to get some of the grape fanta.... Cruised back to the mall and then to the comic book store, Prox got an Aquaman comic for Aquaman's birthday (oh man me and liam and Prox are so dead over that) and i sucked it up and bought the directors cut of JTHM <3! for $38. Then we all wandered to the botanical gardens, sat around talking and i shared around the Pocky, the art nerds got art nerdy and sat around flicking through each others work (holy crap, amazing artists there) found some weird fruit/nut things, Wildcat said they were figs. Sadly i had to leave earlyish, had to catch the 5.02 train home, really do wish i could have stayed longer, it was so damn fun and everyone was so friendly and awesome to be around, mass hugs before i left <3 n'awww so cute, was hell grinning on the train remembering how awesome the day was. I guess thats the summary, now for the ramblings.
Oh my god, finally met Fala after first talking to him 2 years ago then loosing contact, was awesome to finally meet up with him! awesome guy, super skinny wrists :P haha <3 and Ymir with his caterpillar in his soup lol and he really -does- look like Mr Tumnus. Chatted to Robbie about taxidermy/preserving/etc stuff, the art nerdiness was awesome, and zomg thank you so much Jaffa for the red eraseable pencils! started using them that night :3 and this is where it sucks not remembering everyones name yet, but i guess it was just so awesome with everyone, all so friendly and welcoming, open, overall awesome hehe.
My brother came around in the morning, told me there was a fox just down the road, so i drove down with him and it turned out to be a huge hare, brought it home, skinned the front bit off the hind legs, took its ears n tail, got it all in salt now, and the body went out to the house of rot for the bones, the rest of the skin had bits of fur missing in places and it was starting to fall out a bit, didnt want to spend the time skinning it to have it all go to waste when i have school work to do.
And on friday was the usual friends night out, much fun, on the way home Luke and Lachie found me a dead crow, streight to the house of rot! nasty smelling >.> real nasty, pulled out its main wing feathers today when i put the rabbit out there, seemed to be the source of the smell too, looks like the inside part of the feathers (at the base) were rotting or something, was a young crow too, cut the ends off all of them, so hopefully the feathers are alright now, just hope i cut all the nasty bits off.
Well, i guess thats it for now hehe.
