News: I am now married. Thank you, thank you. As Shanna and I have been together for quite a while, already live together; for all intents and purposes we've been living as a married couple for some time now - so the differences from then to now are mostly semantic. I still catch myself referring to a "fiance" and not a "wife."
As for the wedding, it went well. aside from a few complaints with some of the vendors (minor things, not worth mentioning) the day was utterly perfect. My ring is titanium inset with a band of silver and white-gold mokumo gane, hers is platinum with chanel-set diamonds. The wedding was attended by representatives from the following faiths: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Paganism, Atheism, and a few hybrid combinations. Yeah multiculturalism! We kept it fairly small so we'd have time to actually enjoy the day, which we did.
For our honeymoon we went to Arizona, splitting the time between Scottsdale and Sedona. We stayed at 5-star hotels in each area (a first for each of us; we are usually frugal travelers)and had a wonderful time. Arizona is a different world; people do things at different times, the flora and fauna are completely alien, geology is lunar while architecture seems pre-historical. I recommend it highly. Specifically, wake up at 6:30 and go for a very long walk. It is still cool enough that you see everything in it's glory; before things shrink away under the mid-day sun. Mid-May, 11:00 in the morning, and the temperature was over 100 in Scottsdale. DO NOT go outside during the day. Sleep, read, watch TV, go shopping, whatever. Also, Oak Creek Canyon in Sedona is one of the most amazing places I have ever hiked. Truly, words can not do it justice. You will all have to see the photos. When in Sedona, go the the restaurant at the hotel L'Auberge du Sedona. The greatest meal I have ever consumed; and believe me when I say that such accolades are very hard to come by.
