St. Patrick's Day

To everyone who likes to rain on others' parades; thank you for reminding me 17 times a day that St> Patrick wasn't actually Irish. What brilliant historians you are. Did you get that out of "DaVinci Code" along with the rest of your oh-so-accurate historical knowledge?

St. Patrick was a 4th century Celtic Briton of Roman citizenry. This means that he was born in the country we currently call England. Does that make him English? No, he was a Celt. The English did not exist for another 700 years. He wasn't "Roman" except in the sense that he paid taxes to the government who held a sword over his village. Do you follow me? Need me to throw in any vague references to Mary being the grail?

According to pretty much everyone who doesn't have their head up their ass, Ireland never had snakes. St. Patrick drove Paganism out of Ireland (not really, but he did convert a ton of them) Snakes were used to symbolize Paganism. Was he a hero for doing this? Well, the Pagan Celts imprisoned him and were intending on killing him, but he escaped. Three times. The guy wasn't so much a monk, as he was the ancestor of Houdini. But he slowly make progress, converted a few, then more, then flip ahead 1,000 years and the Irish make a sport of killing Protestants. Is that progress?

No, the Irish don't eat corned beef. The potato is not indigenous to ireland. Yes, I know that John Jameson was a Protestant.

I DON'T CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
