Headed over here right after I got your reply!

My hosting is capable of adding more domain names to my space for a reasonable price, but I'll look into that again once it's been decided.
I can actually give other people access to the space (make multiple ftp accounts, emails, databases and users, etc.) and it's also possible to install wordpress and systems like that on there, which, will probably make it easier than to create a databse ourselves.

I could try and see if I get it right the first time, but creating a database from scratch and forms for uploading has been a year ago, so I'd need help if this were to happen.

As for managing/adding messages, if it's not going to be a databased website and pure css/html (which is much easier) I (probably with someone else who knows html?) can add the messages to the sites whenever they are checked and ready.
If it is going to be a database site, we could actually make a form available for people to fill in, so they can place it themselves, but the downside is then that they can't be checked beforehand and we have to beware of spam and bots, too.

As for a layout, I'd be capable of making one as well, or any kind of graphics. If someone else wants to do it, or even together, let me know : 3 But I'll offer as much help as I can.

(not related but to which sendai lives are you going? I'm going to go as well to the 11th, and still trying to get a ticket to the 12th, too! at any rate, have fun!)

You are a star.

I should be able to get a domain name (if needed) so as long as you'd be able to do the necessary with your webhost? (Who is your webhost? Please say it's Dreamhost because this will then get VERY easy.)

If we keep it as basic HTML it'll take the load off the web updaters too as anyone can code a message into HTML. It'd just need to be copy and pasted into the web page afterwards. If we're going to add photos it may get too complicated if we start using PHP forms and ask people to upload the photos themselves.

I know HTML and bits of PHP etc as I had my own site for years (I only closed it in February which is why I still have some hosting money left) so I could always help out with this too.

Did I say that you are a star?

Oh - forgot to add.

I'm going to Sendai on the 11th and 12th (maybe I'll see you there?) and Sapporo on the 17th and 18th. A little overkill but meh... Gackt's worth it right?

I don't know how long you'll be in Japan for, but currently there are still tickets available for those two Sapporo shows on the 17th & 19th. Sendai has been sold out for quite some time though.

haha, I wish, but thank you :"D

I used to have dreamhost, but I switched to Hostmonster 3 years ago :/ I think in order to use the additional new domain right away I have to register it through hostmonster's service on my account, because for domain names registered outside of it, it takes 30 or 60 days until you can import it. Don't ask me the reason for this.
But it shouldn't be a problem, I can request the domain name and have paypal, so : )

True!
Once the css stylesheets are there, a html template including the style ids can be made for the formatting and everyone can just copy, paste and add. : )
The only other solution would be using a guestbook service, but yeah. those don't inclide photo uploading options as far as I know. Defenitely leaning more towards the clean HTML and CSS here.

Oh, nice!
I'd love to go to Sapporo, but I'm afraid my money isn't going to let me ^^; I've already been to all 4 shows in Osaka and now two Sendai, and after that awaits the Kenshin festival. I went to 12 or 14 lives last year, but I'm just not that rich right now, haha!He is totally worth it though.
Everytime I go to his concert he just makes me wanting to have more.If there is any drug in this world that is dangerous, it's Gackt.

30 to 60 days? I think the reason is to force you to buy domain registrations through them!

If this is going to cost you we should really ask for donations... I don't mind paying some towards it. It's unfair for you to take the cost entirely on your own.

I went to one of the Osaka shows. Osaka is reasonably close to where I live but I was working so I was only able to go to the birthday live after I begged to have the next day off work. So, instead I'm chasing after him during my summer vacation.

I really wanted to go to the Kenshin festival but left it too late to sort things out and all of the hotels are booked :-( I've applied for tickets to the bikini live in late August though so that'll make up for it (if I get the tickets.) I only got to two last year (both Saitama shows) but I was still in England then and couldn't afford to take any more time off
work than I did.

He is a drug. The first thing I did after getting back from the birthday live was to go onto the ticket websites and buy the Sapporo tickets. I just needed to see him again and again and again!

well, if their domains were insanely expensive I'd surely object. But thank god they are not =)

If we can get some donations, that'll be great. If it's not enough to cover it I am also willing to pay a part : )
A domain name registered for one whole year is $10,00. It shouldn't be that hard to gather that amount of money!

wow, you even had to beg? The birthday live was surely a ton of fun though. I loved the cake <3

haha, I am not staying in a hotel either. I'll be taking a night bus back. It will kill me, but it saves money.
The bikini live is.. 4 days after I left Japan ): Sadness. I would change my flight but yea, that's gonna cost me 14,000yen to do so :"D hope you'll get a ticket!

Only $10? I'll pay that. Do you have PayPal?

Have a look here. We're trying to figure out what to call the site and what domain to go for. Please join in the discussion.

Are you still okay to design a site for us? It'll have to be done in double quick time so really, nothing fancy. If you need any YFC photos then please ask as I have far too many. It'll be either official live photos or the photocards probably (not the sex ones obviously ^_^)

I don't think I could get a nightbus from Niigata/Joetsu to Okayama. I guess I could have gone back to Tokyo maybe? Never mind. I'll make do with the amount of Gackt I have and be happy XD

Seriously? And you're calling me the star!
my paypal is golden_maiden_eowyn@hotmail.com

Once the name has been decided I'll go and register it right away and set up ftp accounts for people who need access : )
I think I have enough YFC photos : )
What kind of layout were you thinking about?

haha, as long as you get your dose! I'm way too big of a Kenshin fan to miss out on it, Ever since I first saw him like that I knew I had to see it once in real life. <3

You'll get something in your PayPal account soon.

I have no eye for design but just something as simple as header, navigation bar and content. That's all that's needed.

It won't require too many pages either - the home page can be an introduction and explanation, maybe a separate page for submissions and then the messages themselves. Possibly a page for credits/thank yous and other media (YouTube videos etc?)

Would a domain name come with email addresses too?

I received it already! Thank you : ) Let me know once the official name has been decided and we can get to registering the thing.

*nods* Allright. I'll make some mock-ups in photoshop first (Ill try and make a few options if I can come up with enough) and maybe they can be posted in the comm to let people vote which will be better (especially if more people are going to offer designs)

Okay so we're going to let the submissions come through the website? Should I set up an email form for that or are we just going to use an email function?

uhm, I *think* they do. Even if they don't come with the domain I can add more email adresses to my main domain (which is a gackt related name anyway) I just hope people won't go over to that url too much because my portfolio's on there, haha :"D

If it helps, it looks like we're going to be going for either Arigakuto or Irreplaceable Flower so you can work those into the layouts. Both domains are free too.

The plan is to allow for submissions via either this comm or email as we're hoping to include people outside of LJ. An email is fine as we need to approve the messages, possibly translate/edit them and deal with photos so using a form could get messy.

I do hope we get email addresses! That would be cool.

I'll give you posting access so when you've made your mock layouts you can post them as a new entry.

Speaking of flowers... :"D

Brainstorming on ideas on paper and in photoshop right now for the header graphic, but I was thinking...
Is using Gackt himself in the layout a good idea? He sees himself all the time, haha. Some things popped in my head to maybe use things that symbolizes us and/or him. Things with the moon, or, directly stolen for a bit, two flowers nestled together in some place, but still keeping the graphic rather rough in "YFC" style if you know what I mean.

Just wanted to get the insights of someone else right now, because msn does not want to start up here :/

allright, thank you : 3

I'd rather use YFC images as that sparked the project but if you want to try a layout like that as well, I'd be interested in seeing how it came out.

Or, you could mix and match. A small Gackt (or Job) and the symbolism larger.

Edit - I doubt Gackt would have any problems in seeing himself again XD
