"Worth It"

"I love you."

Three simple little words. Words she couldn't say initially. Took her forever to finally say them, but once she did, she couldn't stop. And I completely understand why she couldn't say them. Between her issues with Kim Legaspi, then all of the heartache of loving and losing Sandy and their first child, I honestly never expected to hear her say she loved me. Then again, after all of the struggles I had with Mark, I never expected I'd find love again myself.

But we did. Together.

It wasn't an easy transition, that's for certain. We'd been enemies for far too many years to just blithely fall into bed together once the grieving processes had worked through for us. We fought it every step of the way, fighting the very real feelings we were developing for each other.

But that very act of fighting those feelings made them all the more real…and all the more precious.

Just like the first time she told me she loved me.
