On Derivative Works and Ownership

Hey friends who are in the know in the publishing and/or legal realms, I need your help here. The screenshot below is from a FB group [posted with permission] about the legalities re: ownership of fanfic. It's based off this FB post of tumblr screenshots about why disclaimers are used in fanfic.




Here's my question: Can someone give me a good link(s) that either confirms or refutes the claims this person is making re: ownership of fanfic? Is this really the way it is with derivative works? This is mostly for personal edification, but also because I would like to get the RIGHT info out to people, regardless of whether I'm right or wrong. I'm really curious...
