Brief Update...

So after some pretty rough setbacks this week, thanks to Mother Nature primarily, I am almost completely back on track for NaNo. I'm only 406 words behind for the goal of 45k. That's okay, I'll just make it up during the football game. I like being able to have the office to myself [and the cats] wheile
shatterpath & amyrayh watch the Seahawks play upstairs. I am also 5 chapters away from completely the whole novel, minus any beta work, of course. *squees* This is a big deal for me, as I really wasn't sure I'd get all of the chapters done this month. I'm still not 100% sure I will, but I'm closer than I thought I'd be, which is awesome!

shatterpath is keeping apace, and got some writing done yesterday, but I'm not sure if she got anything done today at all.

We were actually gone most of the day. We headed over toward amyrayh's old neck of the woods to visit with N, a family friend. We took her a 15 lb box of basa swai that we picked up at the restaurant supply shop for $15. You can't beat that price for basa swai, man! And if you've never had it, find it and try it. It's catfish, but has a flavor and texture that is closer to most white fish, particularly Dover sole. There's not a way that we've cooked it that we haven't liked. We eat it as often as we can. And because it's river-farmed, it's a good alternative to a lot of the more endangered white fish and such.

Anyway, so we brought the fish out for N to try, and just to visit with her.
shatterpath & I were feeling kinda crappy today. Our stomachs were acting up, possibly from too much garlic in our breakfast before we'd left. We also stopped at McClendon's, where amyrayh picked up a pole saw for the trees and some LED Christmas lights. She also bought me a package of purple button LED lights for an early birthday present. And once NaNo is finished, we're going to hang them up in my room and put them on a timer. *hee* As we left McClendon's to head over to N's house, the screw holding the right side of
shatterpath's glasses together came apart and the lens popped out onto her chest. She managed to drive with just the one eye open for the little distance it took to pull over. amyrayh got us to Rite Aid, where she got an eyeglass repair kit and fixed
shatterpath's glasses.

The best part of the trip for me was getting to spend time with my favorite boyfriend :: N's black lab, Ouzo. He's a fantastic dog and very affectionate. And he makes me miss the labs I had growing up. If I ever have the chance and the space, I'm getting a damned black lab! I think we've roughly decided that we'll most likely have a beagle, but I still want a lab, damn it! And no, we're nowhere near the point of getting a dog right now, it's mainly just wishful thinking. But if we get a beagle, he'll be named... Oh hell, I've forgotten the name now! Damn it! And it was a good one, too. I'll have to ask
shatterpath what it was again...

The trip home was pretty uneventful, just as the trip down was [glasses emergency notwithstanding], other than the rain that kept coming in waves. We got a couple of sushi rolls from Sushi Town that we scarfed down on the way home, then finished up once we got home.
shatterpath pretty much went to bed once we got home, and I've been writing ever since.

ETA :: Thanks to tristianmakhai, I remembered the name we came up with. It was King Itchy the Grand Snoopy!
