3 day catch-up post because I really wasn't online much this weekend...
Friday can be summed up with this :: Went to work, learned I do have a new sup starting 8 March, came home after 2 hours due to migraine that I'd had upon waking up. Don't remember much of the afternoon, to be honest.
shatterpath came home and the three of us dd a massive chicken nugget/strip fry with the chicken
amyrayh and I marinated from Thursday night. Marinade #1 consisted of ponzu sauce, ginger powder, & wasabi powder [if there was something else, I've blanked on it]. Marinade #2 consisted of beer and traditional roasting spices. Marinade #3 consisted of cinnamon, lemon juice, and chicken broth in a very Mediterranean blend. All three were fabulous, tho'
amyrayh had to rinse off the #3 batch as they were a bit TOO strong on the cinnamon front.
Saturday was grocery shopping [all of us], cooking [me, tho'
shatterpath helped], and working in the flower beds out front [
shatterpath &
amyrayh]. I made
this recipe, but substituted Dark Muscovado sugar for the standard brown sugar and used Brummel & Brown instead of margarine.
shatterpath cooked up some cauliflower and corn [it was supposed to be mashed cauliflower, but that didn't quite work out] to go with it, and then I made Ghiradelli caramel turtle brownies for dessert. The pork chops turned out incredibly! And the sauce they created? Fabulous on the cauliflower/corn blend. This was
amyrayh's b'day dinner [her b'day is today].
shatterpath also made a few things for her meals at work this week.
Today was
amyrayh's birthday. To celebrate, she bought tickets for the three of us to go see
Legally Blonde at the
Fifth Avenue Theatre. First and foremost, if you haven't seen this show, FIND YOURSELF A TOUR AND SEE IT. It's SO. Damned. Worth it. Srsly! The cast was fabulous. We had the understudy for Elle, which moved a couple other roles around. She was incredible. Only one serious "issue" in the final number where her voice actually cracked, and she handled it like a trooper! The whole cast was quite phenomenal, tho' we did catch more than a few clunker notes unfortunately, but that's what makes it live theatre, right? Standout cast included Emmett, Brooke [whose actor was HOOOOOOOOOT and a former Elphaba!], Paulette, and the dogs. Bruiser was adorable and stole all of his scenes [duh!], but little Rufus? I want that dog! SOOOO cute! I really can't say enough about the show. We'd seen the MTV production when it first aired and bought the soundtrack like immediately. And this show did not disappoint. Not in the slightest. Kyle and his packages for Paulette amused greatly. All the pink was wow, but not QUITE overdone. And the guy playing Callahan? Sounded EERILY like Victor Garber. Like almost creepily so. And did I mention that the woman playing Brooke was HOOOOOOOOOOT? Because, yeah, she SO was!
We'd had a few mishaps in getting going for the day, including
shatterpath exploding a can of air when she started taking her desk apart [dropped the desk on the can], the base of her desk actually ended up staying here as we were running late and having issues with the desktop not moving on the roof rack, and Elphie is staying here another week because of the aforementioned issues with the desk. After the show, we went to Uwajimaya for some food, then
shatterpath dropped me and
amyrayh off at the ferry downtown. On the way to our car over here, my right ankle started acting up and is still rather sore. It's some weird sprain-like thing on the front left side. I've had it before, so am not terribly worried about it, but it hurt like hell when I was trying to keep up with
amyrayh's faster pace to get to the car.
And now, on that note, I'm going to bed. All the excitement and some of the shinies of the show have given me the start of a migraine, so I need to get some sleep and hope it goes away...
