These two articles are in response to some of my friends on FB who are joining these groups saying that Facebook is going to charge you to use their service. This kind of goes back to that "Wiccan Blood Oath" article above, particularly the part where I say "Do a little fucking research before blindly joining this shit." I went to the group in question and read thru the comments. There were at least half a dozen comments listing these two articles or similar, all debunking the whole "charging you" thing. Why are people so damned gullible?

It's one of my favorite pictures of myself, because I'm right there, IN the lighthouse, next to a fucking fresnel. How can you put a price on the damages for something that's literally irreplacable? I just... When I got the text message about this last night, I just stared at my phone for several moments, completely in shock. And then I found this article and read what happened, and it made me so fucking pissed. Look at the damage in that picture. Yes, the outer glass can be replaced. But the fresnel? *seethes*
ETA :: Okay, after some further thought, I think my picture is NOT from Cape Meares. I'd have to ask miashael for verification. But ti doesn't matter. I've been > < THAT close to a fresnel in an actual lighthouse. I've seen how fucking gorgeous they are. That someone willingly just destroyed one? *seethes again*
