What a Weekend!

This weekend has been pretty fabulous... and draining.

Friday(ish) I got my tattoo finished, and I am so happy with it I could just squeal. The color is beautiful, and I'm also really glad I won't be sitting for any more painful sessions. I love tattoos, and the pain bit isn't something that will ever stop me from getting a body modification that I like, but at the same time I'm about the farthest thing from a masochist. It's funny to joke around about things that "hurt so good" but ultimately, I dislike discomfort. So no more of that, just a lifetime of enjoying my upper right arm despite the flab. Definitely considering other places that could benefit from some permanent art.

I went to DJ Friday night, and although I felt sluggish when I got there, I was playing music that I loved and everyone else loved it too. Sometimes I don't realize until I'm there just how much I really do enjoy DJing. It doesn't hurt when bar customers take a moment to come over and tell me that I'm doing a great job and they love all the music that I play. I don't don't what cockles are, but it warms mine to hear that.

Saturday was the wedding of one of my oldest childhood friends, alwaysamommy , and one of "the guys" from my days hanging out at Dennys into the wee hours of the morning. It's always struck me as funny how two people I've known in completely separate phases of life, completely separate social circles, have come together and found happiness together. It's a great thing, though, to see two people who I know are both good at heart and committed to their family. The bride was beautiful, the ceremony was beautiful, and the reception was filled with smiling happy people. It was great to be the photographer who got to capture so much positive energy. Obviously life's not all rainbows and butterflies -but a wedding day is supposed to come pretty damn close, and I think it did.

I was beat from the physical movement of photographing so much activity (my glutes and thighs are crying from the squat, kneel, stand, squat) but I managed to stay awake for most of my Shadowrun game that night and on Sunday I started some laundry and hung around with the kids most of the day. I took our dog, Zelda, to the park to meet Leo -a Jack Russell Terrier we may be fostering for a year. He's a sweet little guy, full of energy just like our Zelda, and his family loves him a lot. His mommy is the sister of a friend of ours, and she even mentioned a job I could potentially apply for and use her as a good reference. It was a great meeting, I really felt that the dogs got along well. My heart goes out to this family, their situation is private but basically the dog can't stay with them where they're going and they don't have a choice. So if I can keep him for them while they find someplace where he CAN be with them -they'll be spared the loss of a family member. Our pets are more than just possessions or companions. They're family.

Of course, Sunday nights are my paranormal TV extravaganza and I ended up watching Paranormal State and Psychic kids until sometime around midnight -when I realized that I had completely forgotten to upload the posed portraits we took of the bridal party after the ceremony. So I did that and ended up playing around with my new "Pro" Flickr account until almost 2 am.

I'm pretty tired, but can't deny a feeling of satisfaction with my whole weekend. Especially when I walked through the dining room this morning and caught the turtle basking under her UV lamp. Just another soul we've taken in and improved the life of. Maybe I'd be happier in general if I did more for others. Oooh, revelation.
