I was late to my psychology class this morning but Mazeroff didn't care too much. I got my essay back; 70%
I know that it was meant to be scientific, but I haven't been "conditioned" to write scientifically. I have been trained by english and history teachers to give details and quotes. I'm not rewriting my second essay; I'll just kick ass on my third and be done with it.
We finished going through monologues in acting class. I am in some disbelief at how much theater "experience" my classmates have. They want to "act" too much. Gene' says that it's because many actors are musical theater actors and feel the need to always be doing something. In a straight play that does not work. Musicals are a separate universe and so the acting will be unrealistic in order to go with the show and the music. In a play, the dialogue and action is supposed to be a mirror of life and the idea is to play it as honestly as possible.
I can't understand why some of my classmates don't understand this.
I walked to Interpretive Services to give the interpreter a copy of the script to sign for Seth, but she wasn't there. I went to discuss notes at 3pm about the run of the show last night. Tonight, I need to go to the theater at 5:45 because Devie is sick and might not be able to do the show. Elizabeth needs to distribute her lines amongst me, Colleen, and Cindy. I feel awful because I love Devie's interpretation of Honor Blake: weird, spastic, and quirky.
Last night, Andrew Tucker (HUGE Batman fan) let me read the Trinity graphic novel. It's where Superman and Batman meet Wonder Woman. You can imagine how pleased I was to read it. Tucker's girlfriend, a senior named Meghan, is like my older sister. She's the sister I never had and always wished that I did. She's so funny and sweet and we could pass as sisters. She's mostly Irish and her Irish ancestors came from County Cork, just like mine.
Tonight is the Dog Party. We sit in the understage and trade presents with everyone else. The presents are random things like $5 gift cards, soda pop, key chains. I bought a thesaurus and wrapped it in newspaper. Hopefully someone will want it.
