Last night around 9:20, Annie and I drove to Frederick to pick up her boyfriend, John, at the Mudd Puddle. Annie was freaking out because she's never driven on back roads before. Being from south Jersey, she has never really come in contact with roadkill at night. It was also raining. A lot. We were a little nervous because we kept looking for 26 West...which we found and it led us straight to Frederick.
We found John; his bus had dropped him off and he'd been waiting outside the Mudd Puddle for a few hours because the damn cafe was fucking closed. Why? God knows. Literally.
We drove to the Giant so I could pick up some food for my dorm and Annie could use the bathroom. John is really nice and down to earth; he's very sweet to Annie. I paid for my food and we got back in the car. Annie and I should have just listened to John and gone back the way we came. It was about 11 pm at this point. We stopped at the 7/11 and asked. The guy was foreign; sounded like he was from Haiti, and gave me false directions. We drove up towards Hood College, freaked out, drove off the highway, got on 77 going back to my house. We were driving through Catoctin, back roads. No lights. Annie was freaking out.
And on top of all of that, it was pouring.
I felt awful; I've grown up here my whole life and I've been on 77 a few dozen times to go to various soccer games, trips to Cunningham Falls, Catoctin Mt. Park, and long drives to Massachusetts. I couldn't tell Annie to just pull over to the side because there was no space to pull over and 77 is a dangerous road to pull over on, especially late at night. We made it to Stottlemeyer Road, which I know. We pulled into the dairy farm parking lot.
Thank God for cell phones. I called Sam who told me that,"JesusChrist, you are sooooooo far from Westminster get backtoFrederick NOW!" He told us to take 15 South back to Frederick and make it to Hayward Road, where my mother works. We did. As we were driving down 15 South, I recognized the place that sells campers. I could see certain Frederick lights in the distance and then we saw it; a sign that said 26 and it was pointing left. John and I told Annie to slow the fuck down, but she didn't (because she's from New Jersey) and we had to do two U-turns to get back onto 15 South. We made it to Liberty Road, which is 26 East and it's a straight shot from there to McDaniel College.
Sam called me back and asked if everything was alright. I said it was and he told me good night. I told him "Good night and don't tell mom"
It stopped raining as we got to Libertytown. It was totally done by the time we hit New Windsor and there wasn't a cloud in the night sky when we came to Westminster.
I have the dorm to myself this weekend because Sammie Jo is in Virginia for something for Field Hockey. That means I can come staggering into my dorm room tomorrow morning, drunk and loud, and not bother her. :)
Always good.
THE BET::::::: THE BET::::::
I got a text from Jess when Annie, John, and I were driving through Libertytown. Jess texted that the bet was off and I called and asked why. She said that Brian was a party last night, there was drinking and some pot involved and she "didn't think it was fair" for the bet to forward. I said, "Yeah, the whole bet was a joke" and she said, "Oh yeah, I knew that from the beginning"
Bullshit.
But I'm happy I don't have to "compete" with her anymore. She was driving me nuts.
