This morning, Mom and Seth went to the Deaf Church in Frederick, Sam went to All Saints, Dad and I went to his Unitarian Church.
It was really nice. I usually don't like those big, open, airy churches because it always makes me think of Evangelical Churches where you have to hug everyone else and express how Jesus changed your life after Rehab for LSD and beating the shit out of your kids. Ack. I always preferred the Nave, the dark hollow church with stain-glass windows and wooden pews. I always felt like I didn't have to share my beliefs with anyone else. It was much more personal.
This church was great though. There was Nicene Creed or Lord's Prayer. The Minister (a woman with an insanely intense hat) made an interesting point during her sermon: Jesus washed the feet of his disciples to proove that no master was above his servant and no servant was below his master; they were on the same level. It was interesting to me how man distorts the teachings of Christ. Jesus was trying to show that although, he is the Son of God and that he will suffer on the cross for all mankind, he is not so Holy and High that he can't clean a fellow man's foot and that although that man will never rise above and have his name whispered on the lips of billions of people in centuries to come, he is allowed to pleasure of having his feet washed.
If I could tell this story to every single dictator, facist, totalitarian, and Divine Right King...I wonder what they would say. :)
Mom is roasting a Ham instead of a Lamb this year; Dad doesn't care for Lamb, so we eat Ham.
I want to watch 'The Prince of Egypt' all of a sudden. I remember the music for that movie and how wonderful it was. Does anybody remember that movie?
