Hostage dream

I dreamed I was on the upper floor of a nice house. I had just taken a shower and walked out of the shower into a bedroom, (my bedroom I guess). I heard a noise but I knew no one was home so it startled me. I went to the bedroom door and opened it a crack to look out and saw a man I didn't know just a couple of feet from the door. I gasped and started to quickly close the door. The man ran up and stopped me from closing the door, he pushed it open and looked at me. I hadn't dressed yet from getting out of the shower.

He said "I could rape you very easily, I don't even have to tear off any clothes." I pushed past him and ran down the stairs and out the door. I was still naked but I had to try to find help. There was no one around outside, I ran a few houses down where there was a truck in a driveway so I figured someone was likely to be home. The man was running out of the house and toward me. I hid under the truck. He came over to the truck and held a gun at my head. He told me to go back to the house. I went back to the house and he told me to go back up to my room. I thought, well if he rapes me that's better than killing me and he would leave DNA evidence that way. So I walked up to the bedroom. The phone rang. I looked at the phone in the bedroom as it rang, wanting to answer it and get help, but knowing I couldn't. Then the man with the gun answered the phone, to my suprise. He said hello in a voice trying to sound like a woman. I heard my mom's voice on the phone saying that my voice sounded funny and asking if I was feeling okay. I shouted, "That's not me mom! Help! He has a gun!" Then he hung the phone up. He said, "I could be done with you before the police even show up you know. That was not a smart thing to do." Than he just sat there staring at me like he was trying to decide what to do next. I looked at sack nearby and realized he had come to rob the place and probobly thought that no one was home until I opened the bedroom door. The phone rang again. I looked at it, he motioned for me to answer it and told me to tell my mom I am fine. I answered the phone but it wasn't my mom on the phone it was the police. The man on the phone asked me if there was someone with a gun in the house with me. I said as calmly as I could, "Yes." He said, someone was on thier way to help and asked if he could talk to the man. I looked at the man with the gun and decided to just hand him the phone. He took it and said hello. He started to talk on the phone. I looked at the open bedroom door and started to slowly move toward the door hopeing he would be too distracted by the phone call to notice me leaving. He jumped up and grabbed me. He yelled somthing at me. I told him I wasn't going to leave, I begged him not to hurt me and told him I wouldn't leave the room. He said "Come on!" and dragged me out of the room to the top of the stairs. I looked down and saw about 3 officers with guns drawn at the bottom of the stairs and my dad halfway up the stairs. He said, "okay, go down there." to me. I thought he was just letting me go so I thanked him heartily and even hugged him, feeling overwhelmed with gratitude. I went down the stairs and my dad went up. The police took me behind them and to the kitchen to wait. some of the officers stayed at the bottom of the stairs. I realized then that my dad had traded places with me and was now being held hostage by the man with the gun. There was nothing I could do now but sit in the kitchen and wait. Then I saw two young girls, that looked a lot like my sister and I when we were young, but they were in old fashioned pioneer style dresses. The one that looked like me said, "you don't have to take a shower every day. If you braid your hair tightly and wear a bonnet over it, it will be fine for 8 weeks. At least in Ohio." Then she started playing some game with the other girl. I then saw my grandma standing outside the kitchen window looking in. She didn't look exactely like herself, she looked younger and had long hair but her hair was silvery grey. She looked worried. Then I saw my sister, my former step-mom, my dad's current girl friend, and my mom. They all looked worried and came over to hug me and tell me they were glad I was safe. Then I woke up.
