So I mentioned that biking my commute and errands has a number of downsides - here's a funny one. In order to ride in comfort, I own padded bike shorts, with a little chamois inside, designed to protect my bottom from.. wear and tear, as it were. your best bet is to make your own from old t-shirts (either ones you own or from goodwill). Cheap, easy, and lots of variety.

If you go looking for t-shirts at thrift stores, you might as well look to see if they have acceptable skirts too. Since you're already there, it won't take much more time. And you never know what you'll find at thrift stores...

I've actually been hankering for some cute skirts myself. I can sew ones exactly like you're talking about (modest length, elastic waistband) for pretty cheap. I'll see what fabric I have on hand and shoot you a couple of pictures if you'd like.

I'm thinking $5-10 depending on shipping and fabric costs. These things take less than half an hour to make from first cut to finished hem, so materials and shipping will be the biggest variable here. I should have some pics to you by Sunday of the fabric I have at home, and if none of that tickles your fancy, you can either find some fabric yourself and mail it to me, or find some stuff on the internet that looks good, email pictures of them to me and I'll find suitable substitutes here in Minneapolis. ^.^
