Take your family and run

Princess number 3 played by Tasha Lim

At first no one noticed Elodie, for she was just a late guest at the back of the audience, presumably about to find an empty sea in the last row of chairs.  In front, Henry stood under the same golden pavilion where he'd married Elodie only two nights prior.  In her place was another young woman in a tightly cinched gown of blood red.  She had dark brown skin and long black hair that fell in gentle waves all the way down to the small of her back.  She wore gold combs with the pattern of dragon's scales, and an awfully familiar pendant around her neck.

Elodie looked at her kindly.  "You look beautiful tonight.  Perfect.  But if I can give you any advice from one woman to another - you don't want to go through with this.  Get away from here, as far as you can go. Now."

I kept the quotes intact from the book, as written by Evelyn Skye, because even though a lot is changed - the description of the Princess #2, the time of day, the gown Princess #3 is wearing, I didn't want to change or "modify" the quote to fit the Netflix movie.  The Netflix movie was a lot more dramatic and effective in this scene, though. You can see the horror in Princess #3's face as she sees Elodie, in her undergarments, with blood and dirty and ash all over her body.  You can see her thinking, "What did they do to you?"

In the book and movie, Elodie's father agreed to the bride price in exchange for his daughter being fed to the dragon as a human sacrifice.  In the book it is stated that Lady Bayford knew the details of the union and the bride sacrifice, and she did object to the wedding the day before.  In the movie, she does not know.  In this scene, there is a shot of Princess #3 and her family fleeing.  It is unclear if her father agreed to the deal of their daughter being eaten by the dragon.

In the book, Princess #3 is wearing the same golden combs and pendant Elodie was given.  The royal family are even colder in the book.  During the priestesses' ceremony, they take all of the princesses' jewelery off, the save for the next human sacrifice.
