I really wanted to like this book. I tried, several times, but it just wasn't for me.
Melissa de la Cruz, besides having the same name as me, has written the Disney Descendants novels. And this book looked so cool with the balloons, and written by an author with my name, but it was just very bland. This woman named Ellie is having her 40th birthday party, and every other chapter is a flashback to 24 years in the past. I didn't finish it. It just felt really disjointed, with so many flashbacks to different points in her life, and I found I didn't care. Really sorry Melissa de la Cruz, I didn't really find anything thrilling or captivating about this book.
