Oh man, so apparently
The Little Mermaid (2023) is bad? I wasn't going to see it in the theatre anyway. I'm waiting for it to be on Disney Plus. Mena Massoud, the title actor for the Aladdin live action movie/series
got a lot of flack for saying TLM2023 wouldn't hit the 1 billion mark. He actually
deleted his twitter. And I get why he got a lot of backlash for saying
this. But to be honest, with all Disney live action films, even
Cinderella (2015), there are good things, and bad things about the renditions. Ultimately, Disney live action films can never completely capture the nostalgia and magic of their animated counterparts. Even the
Aladdin live action movie. Will Smith just couldn't measure up to Robin Williams. And making Jasmine the Sultan so that she could marry Aladdin felt kind of...ham-fisted. No Disney live action movie is perfect, except for
Cruella. And that was kind of a villian origin story, so it doesn't count.
