Okay SO. Disney’s going all out with Princesses, now focusing on them as individuals rather than a big glittery group. This is an excellent thing, but I can’t help but think SOME of these ‘traits’ either don’t go far enough or miss the mark in favour of generic sentiments.
Snow White: Be a Friend. Mm'kay, a little vague, but generally accurate. Snow treats everyone she meets like a trusted friend. Fluffy little Humanist, is our Snow.
Cinderella: Problem here is…. Well, she DOES kinda give up there. She had absolutely nothing left but then ol Deus Ex Fairy Godmum turned up and made it all better. And she does it AGAIN in Cindy 3 when Princy forgets her, it’s the MICE who provide the info she needs to keep going. I’d say Cindy’s message is Be Kind. Because that’s pretty much her thing, she’s endlessly KIND. You know she’d completely forgive Tremaine & Drisella and Anastasia is her new bestie.
Aurora: Yeah, no. Poor Aurora gets SO little screen time and not much to hang on her in terms of character motivation. I guess… Get Plenty of Sleep? ;)
Ariel: I’d go closer on this one to 'Seek to Understand the World outside your own.’ That’s a pretty powerful message in our ugly divided world today.
Belle: yep, that’s Belle. Not only in her relationship with Beast, but she was the ONLY person to call out Gaston for the monster that he is. You cannot put anything past Belle.
Jasmine: mm. No. Jasmine should be the champion for self-autonomy, seeing as her predicament involves constantly deferring an arranged marriage. 'Your Life is your Own’.
Pocahontas: yeah, that’s Poca. Literal tree hugger ;)
Mulan: the warrior thing is a bit of a shtick and misses the point of WHY she became a warrior. I’d nominate for her 'Honour your Family’ (Family can be any people important to you, of course!)
Tiana: Lots of Princesses had their dreams made real far too conveniently with magic etc, so this feels too generic for Tiana. 'Hard Work makes Dreams come True’. Cuz Tiana is a princess for the REAL world and even after she gets the guy, that restaurant didn’t happen without elbow grease.
Rapunzel: rap’s motivation is rather similar to Ariel’s, an insatiable curiosity to see the world outside her bubble. What sets Rapunzel apart is what she accomplished without leaving that tower. 'Create Your Dreams’.

Here is what Amy is referring to. It's kind of ironic that both Amy's and Paige's art was included in the same book, Beyond the Tiara. I know that Amy has a copy of the book. I wonder if she looked at Paige's art. Paige's art isn't that hideous, it's just that there is no dept perception in her paintings. All of her 2-D characters in her art look like they've been punched. Also the way she does Belle's eyebrows is really strange. But she has done way better than I could do. I feel like she could be trained and she could improve. 😏
